I dreamed of my soul mate again the night before I met him- AGAIN-only to be lost AGAIN -just like last time and just like the dream...
but I had just kissed one goodbye to Africa, and another was closer than I even knew at the time...and yet i felt SO LONELY.Totally confused I took comfort within and made up a children's stories for Denali , about a Girl Named India, who had special powers and could hear the roots growing in the earth, could speak with the animals, and floated downstream one day on a river with bubbles full of laughter. It took her to her past so long ago that it was in fact her future...
I had a dream of you last night
you were lost on a sea of ebony with no land in sight
and I had to give up everything that I hold dear just to hold you
but you had no idea
now I don't know which way is up or which way the wind is blowing
But I made a wish upon a star never dreaming it would go far
but oh what a surprise
my wish came true before my eyes
split in two just like Gemini
and now I don't know which to choose
and now I don't know which way is up or which way the wind is blowing
and I just see so many ways that this thing could go
and I drove him up Highway One just to ahow him the ocean
that endless sky and sea
and he kissed me softly on the mouth
goodbye for now the plane is boarding
and he was bound for Africa
and now I don't know which way is up or which way the wind is blowing
and I just see so many ways that this thing could go
I knew this girl who only wore big black boots and lavender dresses
because it made her feel safe
raven hair and wild eyes where she kept the morning sunrise
you know her name was India
and she could hear the roots growing
within the earth turning
and you could see it on her face
that she knew the languages of the lost ages
that are gone without a trace
but I don't know which way is up or which way the wind is blowing
and I just see so many ways that this thing could go
