i wrote this when i was 16 and had my "great awakening" of how things REALLY work.

Suddenly I opened my eyes, and I saw thru the world’s disguise
And is it a curse to know the difference between the lies and the truth?
And are you afraid to let me look because I’ll see right thru you?
Rejects of society, I see no difference between me and you
Is it just because we think a little off the beaten path?
Is that why we are the ones who suffer civilized wrath?

And today, I looked around and I cried
Because the innocence in me had died
And I realize that I’m like a sore thumb in society
And somehow the ways of civilization don’t make sense to me

And sometimes sanity seems so insane
What good is life if you can’t dance in the rain?
